Well, it’s been a while! 2013 has been very busy both in my career and personal life. I got married in April and all the planning that goes into that has taken up a lot of my free time in 2013 but for good reasons :). Read more →
I created all of the VFX for this spot on a pretty quick timeline. I also Supervised the shoot and created some basic previs from set measurements. We had some practical fire on set but it wasn’t enough so I added digital fire with TFD and also had the DP shoot some practical elements for me to layer in as well. Read more →
In the past I’ve struggled to get C4D’s motion vectors working correctly with the VectorBlur node in NUKE. I’ve seen a lot of other people struggle with this on multiple forums too. I’m very much still learning NUKE so by no means am I an expert with the program but I think I found a useable workflow! Read more →
This was one of the projects I talked about during my SIGGRAPH presentation for MAXON. This is a shot I created while beta testing R14. I used the new camera calibration tag, motion camera, normalizer shader and aerodynamics. I also modeled and textured (bodypaint) a trashcan for the scene and rendered some TFD dust coming out of it. Also, you can find a similar project I made in the R14 Content Browser. Read more →
In this series I walk you through the process of creating a magnetic crane rig. You will learn about Spline Dynamics, Xpresso, Rigid Body Dynamics and more. Read more →
I started playing around with Kinect mocap in Cinema 4D a little over a month ago. It’s pretty fun. It has it’s limitations for sure but still could prove useful on certain projects. One thing that bothered me was the time it took setting up a rig and connecting it to the data that Ni-Mate creates. Read more →
After seeing Simon Fiedler’s cool Droplelts breakdown I had to make the dynamic spiderweb he showed. I think it’s pretty close to what he did. I used spline dynamics, hair and constraints. It’s very fast and responsive in the viewport which is really great. It also led me to some cool R&D with combining spline dynamics, thinking particles and Cloth.
Here’s a test I made using Projection Man to aid in camera mapping, pose morph, dynamics and the new Physical Renderer including DOF and Motion Blur.
